Nokia: Only number is shown, though name is in phonebook

Error description

No name is shown on incoming calls or incoming short messages. The cell phone display shows only the phone number, although the phonebook has an entry with this number and a name.

Solution

It seems that no Nokia phone displays a name if there are two or more phonebook entries with the same number. Only the last seven digits are compared. Therefore similar numbers that are identical in the last seven digits will be considered equal, e.g. 0170-1234567 and 05251-234567.

There is no known solution for this issue except removing those duplicate or "similar" numbers from your mobile.
